I dont understand the point these cowards are trying to make. Allah never said to kill people, and never in history did gods fight against each other. This is all i believe is political games played on innocent people.

I deeply condemn the attacks that occured in Mumbai. Why cant Indian Govt be aggressive and attack POK / Muzaffarabad, where the militants are running training camps like Israel?

We are victims of terrorism and have been suffering for the last two decades as "Internally displaced community" after we were hounded out from our homes and hearths in Kashmir. Government and politicians have utterly failed to contain the menace and only uprising by masses can change the situation.

L. Santosh Patra - Phulbani

Home Ministry and Defence Ministry should jointly come up with a plan for alleviating the fears of the common man about national security. With India gaining in prominence on the wor ld stage, there will be many who would want to do us harm, so in this environment, being a little paranoia as opposed to our normal "chalta hai" attitude could actually work to secure many innocent lives.

It is high time that national govt's security measures are augmented by registerd /numbered citizens anti-terror security groups(CASG) across the globe with country level coordinating agencies/network-.Based on requests to form these small groups not exeeding 10members whose identities/area of vigilence gets clearly authenticated can be registerd and numbered by designated agencies-These CASGs should keep vigil in their ares and if they identify and take steps to prevent terrorist plans before hand they can be rewarded under a suitable incentive scheme--If a non registerd group suddenly comes across impending terror moves they can also be rewarded after registering them as a unit. All the logistic supports and effective coordinating and counteracting measures should be thought of and initiated country wise ,firstly in india as an experimrntal measure which when in place can usher in a global vigilence network - L Gopalan

I offer my deepest condolences to all the brave army jawans, commandos and cops who laid down their lives to save the rest of us. It fills me with pride to stand as one of their countrymen. However, there is a feeling that lingers in me, that a lot of their lives could have been saved with a bit more preparedness and better equipment.

I was shockend to hear the news of horrible terrorist attack on Mumbai. I strongly condemn such unlawful act against the mankind what-so-ever it may be and by whom so it may be planned and organised. I am also confident that the peoples of India are of strong will power to fight the terrorism and I also hope that we will be able to detect the loopholes in the Govt. intelligence systems through our active suggestions and involvement for the strategic fight against the terrorism.

Lakhan Patel - Mumbai

How long we will suffer because of this useless, ineffective and inefficient system and bear these incompetent politicians. Let us raise our voice to change the system from scratch. Let us start today itself and resolve that we will be the part of any corruption and will not allow others to involve in corruption. this itself is a major cause of such incident. An individual can make a difference. I offer my deepest condolences to all those who sacrificed/lost their lives in this cowardice incident.

Somebody has to act ! No, everybody has to think . The people has to change not the society or the politicians. The permanent solution lies in the roots. The people has to be educated first. Its not the religion that provokes Militancy, but the hunger and poverty. The ignorance of the people is being cashed by provoking for religion. People of the sub-continent ( i prefer calling them as brothers ) should act strong and show them that every strike they make the more harder we become.

What are they going to achieve by this heinous act ? After the genocide what is left? Whom they are trying to please? My dear terrorist !! the humansknown to be the most intelligent ? of the living beings what are you upto ? Dont u think of ur parents and kiths while you engage on such acts ? Are you so weak mentally to be brain washed by your idiotic trainers? Our interrogators instead of trying to extract information from these rascals should act smart and pay the terrorist group in their own coin-brainwash the captured ones to lead you to the enemy or better still engage them on a war with their mentors. Have an iron curtain for sensational media. Reveal story after the even else ask media to lead in this war against the TERROR rather being critical of the events on postmortem report. It was disgusting to see the video clippings of the terrorists walking out of CST in search of a vehicle. If this could be captured by the cameraman / men why did they fail to alert the police. We the citizens should act in unison. Keep away the politicians who are the root cause for all these religious haterdness.

Today, we salute the men in uniform who managed the situation and ended the standoff at Bombay. The terrorists were motivated enough to kill innocent people and commit suicide. To what purpose – nobody knows. Apart from publicity, there does not seem to be any motive behind these current attacks. There were no demands for money, free country, nothing at all ! It seems that they just wanted to remind the western world that they have not forgiven - just shifted the arena to a softer target !! Everyone is angry. People are feeling helpless and let down by the government. The situation becomes worse when people in responsible positions go around making asinine comments ! We, as intelligent people, must understand that no government in the world can guarantee that a terrorist strike will not take place in their country. It is like a disease that can strike at any place without warning ! However, the things that can be done have to start from the very basics e.g : The government can concentrate efforts to improve the effectiveness of our intelligence agencies by defining their channels of information flow, so that the people responsible for taking action get the intel in time. The dismal state of gear and infrastructure of our men on the ground badly needs to be revamped. Sadly, corruption amongst our babu's mars even such critical decisions as was highlighted during the Kargil War (Coffins for our war heroes were compromised) Imagine the extent of this rot !! We need people who are above board to get involved and make sure the Government machinery moves smoothly rather than gets stuck by wads of currency notes in its cogs. Many incidents in the past have failed to raise the government from its slumber. 200 deaths are no big deal for the Indian government. In fact, they happen in India EVERY SINGLE DAY - but go unnoticed & unreported because the people killed are from the nameless masses and the killers are from within. This time the killers were from outside and the victims were the well heeled. This time the media has shown us the Mother of REALITY T.V. Every thinking Indian with access to electricity and a TV sat glued to the horror unfolding before their very eyes. (Hats off to the brave Anchors and Camera Crew). What can we, as ordinary citizens do ? Political bashing does not help. A few jokers, sorry, politicians resigning do not help. Pakistan bashing does not help - It only makes the next strike easier for the terrorists. Here are some thoughts of what we as INDIANS CAN do. Isn't it ironic how irritated we feel when we are stopped at a Naka for checking. How rudely we speak to the constable ! What motivation does he have, when every other person he accosts, treats him as a irritant ? Spare a moment and remember - HE IS ONLY DOING HIS DUTY. The car behind you might contain terrorists that need to be stopped. Be cooperative and thank the man for looking after you !! We need to be aware of our surroundings. This does not mean that we eye everyone with suspicion, but at least we can watch for things that are out of place. This is the right moment for us Indians to get out of our inertia - the 'Chalta Hai' attitude. Let us start on our own level and stop taking shortcuts that undermine the processes. i.e. - bribing the traffic policemen, allowing other people to force their views on us i.e. call Bombay as Mumbai, write signboards in Marathi, profiling us on the basis on Religion, Region, Sexual Dispositions etc..., looking the other way when we see an atrocity happening, getting involved ! As you say, we have to put our foot down and say 'ENOUGH is ENOUGH' !! Jai Hind !!

At the ground level we have only the regular police. They are very corrupt....but why???They are underpaid, underequipped and underappreciated. The only thing in excess is overpoliticed. any movement to update our systems has to start ground up.We URGENTLY need reforms at the starting point. An NSG is useful in emergencies but only our cops can do the dirty work.
